Chris and I never imagined to be flipping properties at age 25. We never imagined general contracting in our future and we most certainly never imagined taking on independent renovation jobs... But God had a very different plan.
Long after completing our first flip, we were knee deep in our own home renovation. Real estate was going well and the market was hotter than ever! With business booming and our at home DIY projects progressing, taking on independent renovation work was not in our sight; at least not in my sight anyway. One afternoon, Chris got home a little later than usual.
"I got us a hardwood job!" Chris said as he waltzed into the kitchen.
"You got us a what?!"
"An independent hardwood job! Just over 900 square feet. We're going to transform this lady's first floor!" Chris was talking so fast I could hardly understand him. "I figured it would be a great way to make some extra cash! She wants me and my crew to start ASAP!"
"Chris, what crew?! I am your crew? We're a crew of TWO. That's not a crew. We just finished laying 1,200 square feet of hardwood in our own house! My back and knees hurt!"
"Everybody has to start somewhere! You'll have 3 weeks to rest up! I'm ordering her hardwood today."
Looking back to our first conversation about booking the independent job, I should've been more supportive. After all, we had a great time and the end product was well worth it! For a crew of two, we kicked butt and I'm already looking forward to our next job! With that being said, The Miller Team is now taking on independent renovation work!
