Renovation Reality

Not everyone could work along side their husband 24/7... It takes a great deal of marital patience, an open mind and light roast coffee to deal with Chris Miller in his "let's make this home as healthy/perfect as possible" mentality. In some ways I despise his pickiness, but most days I'm appreciative of his anal tendencies; especially when I know the end product will be perfect. Just as he annoys me with his obsessive habits, I equally annoy him with my impatient, "let's just get it done as fast as possible" attitude. Despite our differences, Chris and I truly make the perfect team. I push him to finish the job and his pickiness causes him to go above and beyond in each task he takes on. I show the properties while Chris finishes setting tile before his mortar dries. I type the contracts while Chris tells me what to type with his pneumatic nailer in hand. Everyday I'm amazed by my husband's work and his overall dedication to the real estate market. His passion is what inspires me and drives me (crazy) LOL JK ;) The truth is, working with Chris eases my stress. We understand each other, not just on a romantic/spiritual level, but on a professional level as well. By sharing the same career, we also share the same outlook on how and where to spend our time and money. We don't enjoy shopping. We don't enjoy trips to the lake. What we truly enjoy is working on real estate and investing all of our time and energy into bettering property.

Chris and I thrive in the chaotic, short-tempered environment called "house flipping;" though Chris refuses to use the term "flipping." You see, each property we take on is more than just a quick fix. It's more than just an easy turnover. Each and every home we renovate receives the upmost love, care and attention; even if it breaks us in doing so. But that's the point, right? Don't get me wrong, Chris and I would love to see every project go just the way we had anticipated. But that's not how life works! As a team, you can have a plan, but ultimately that plan is shot to you know where in a matter of seconds... Especially when renovating houses. I'm not at all speaking for God, but I think He intends for our plans to change and for our lives to be turned upside down. And while we question these hardships, Chris and I have learned to roll with the punches because ultimately God has an even greater plan drawn up...
